Lavender Fields Forever

Lavender, a lovely purple flower is known for it's calming aspect. And I'm fortunate to live within a half hour of a lavender farm.

At Laurel Lavender Farm, purple chairs and picnic tables drew me to in to sit and take a meditative moment to inhale the scent of blooming lavender.

After chatting with the owner about tips for growing lavender, (plant it very early in the spring and give it love with water and sunshine) I ventured into their little store with lavender delights: soaps lotions, salts, and seasonings - all calling to me.

This takes me back to a trip I made with my daughter to Grasse, in the south of France, where lavender fields and lavender products are prominent and perfumes are made.

But this was all local! And as added fun, I watched cute little rabbits enjoying a purslane treat.

I admit to filling a basket to take home these wonderful healing lavender products, with no shame. Studies have reported that lavender is beneficial for a variety of conditions including insomnia, alopecia, anxiety, stress, and post operative pain. Aromatherapy with lavender essential oil is said to slow activity of the nervous system, improve sleep, promote relaxation, treat headaches and exhaustion. In a bath it may help with joint and muscle pain.

Lavender leads to happiness!
