Another green day for a tree hugger in the Pacific Northwest

Washington is the Evergreen State. The rain is our secret ingredient.

A lush day with some moisture keeps it that way. We have lots of green days here.

It's a good day to drink Starbucks and motor down Chuckanut Drive to park at a trail head and hike to a viewpoint with panoramic views of Puget Sound, looking out over salt water to a scattering of emerald islands.

Moss covers rocks and logs with soft blankets. Plants climb higher, sending out new shoots and leaves open, renewed, awakened from dormancy.

The holy grail was emerald according to St. John the Divine. Mohammedan said that the color of all colors is green. It is seen as a neutral color because plants are just little pots of life.

Green is a sign of health, literally. A green cross marks a pharmacy in Europe.

Green represents safety. It also refreshes.

Different colors of green channel memories of gardens and nature and forests.

In color healing, you visualize and breathe in the green to increase vitality and dissolve blood clots and restore balance.

For color therapy green is used to soothe and relax mentally as well as physically. It helps with nervousness, anxiety and depression.

Green is universally seen as the most relaxing color because it is the color of grass and trees. It is perceived as the color of peace and tranquility.

Hug a tree. Water your plants. Smell the forest.
